STAR season 3 episode 12 preview: Looking towards ‘Toxic’
Competition. STAR, one way or another, is all about it. This is the forefront of this show — musical competition, personal competition, and characters finding a way to constantly go toe-to-toe with one another. It’s a pretty-crazy show that way since you’re constantly throwing different combos of characters up against the wall and in contrast to each other. You wonder which ones will survive, and sometimes, which rivalries end up becoming friendships. Just as much as STAR may revolve around competition, there is an added, super-important component to this as well: Flux. You gotta be willing to go with the flow sometimes! The music industry is about accepting change and willing to evolve.
STAR season 3 episode 12 is entitled “Toxic,” and in here, you’re going to see some characters opt to work together. However, there are going to be other relationships that dive into some dark, serious places you haven’t seen them before. The synopsis below gives you a little bit of a better sense:
With ASA nominations approaching, Alex and Gigi’s rivalry heats up into a sing off, while both of their family dramas come to a head. Star struggles with being away from Davis, as Noah battles his old vice. Miss Bruce, Simone and Cotton make a startling discovery that could help Star get out of jail. Meanwhile, Cassie and Maurice team up for a take-down in the all-new “Toxic” episode of STAR airing Wednesday, March 27 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (LDS-312) (TV-14 D, L, S, V)
Is this where we will see Star get out of prison? We’ve stated this before but there’s no real reason to trap her in this spot forever. You want to see her roaming out with the other characters, causing a little bit of chaos and mixing things up. You want her in the studio, and not in jail! Prison’s an escape from that world but the longer you stay, the harder it is for shows to figure out what to do with you. It becomes an albatross.
Where is that season 4 renewal?
Today marks a new era over at Fox as a network, largely in that the Disney merger’s gone through and we’re going to see them make some fascinating decisions. We’d be worried if we are many shows amidst this complicated landscape, but not so much STAR. There may be rivalries, but at the same time, there’s not going to be one between this show and Fox. It’s going to be coming back for some more episodes and it’s really just a matter of timing. You gotta get negotiations done and ducks in a row; bringing shows back is often so much more complicated than you would ever quite imagine. We don’t think the wait is going to last until May.
