Grown-ish season 2 episode 12 return date hopes on Freeform
The first thing that we should note at the moment is that there are more stories to be told within this world this season. Because of the success of the first season, Freeform went ahead and ordered more episodes this time around. That makes grown-ish more of a year-round event and beyond that, it gives viewers something to look forward to for a good while still.
So when can you expect new episodes to air? Think in terms of June. There’s no specific day revealed just yet, but there’s really no reason for Freeform to announce anything definite this early. We’re still in the month of March! We are a few months away from the show coming back on the air and because of that, Freeform can bide their time and try to figure out the day that works best for them. We think that viewers are going to watch grown-ish pretty much on any day regardless, but there’s nothing wrong with them trying to maximize the return on their overall investment.
There is also one other important thing worth noting now, and that is the official renewal that’s already in place here for season 3! While you endure the long wait, there’s no reason to sweat out anything on the long-term future. That’s always preferred and something we wish more networks adopted. Why did Freeform dish out that early renewal? A lot of it has to do with giving the writers plenty of time to craft out the stories, but beyond that, a lot of it also has to do with the strong ratings that the show has in their key demographics that are important to the network — it’s also got the black-ish brand behind it and a little bit of synergy goes a long way.
Do we still have questions about this show’s long-term future?
Absolutely. It’s pretty hard not to when you consider that this is a show set in a college setting. There’s only so long that people end up staying within this particular world! Yet, the crazy thing here is that this time-frame may work best for a show on Freeform — typically, the network’s programs last around four or five years (with few exceptions) and there could be a natural end date around then.
Of course, if grown-ish remains successful enough, we still have a feeling that the writers could figure something out, even if they had to change the setting slightly. That’s the thing with successful shows — programming heads will move mountains to continue a franchise that is making them a ton of money, even if it means finding a way to shake up the original premise.
In the end, this is an issue to think of down the road, but it’s worth at least storing away in the back of your mind.
