NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 17 spoilers: Is Pride back?

NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 17 is far from your ordinary episode — though the irony here is that it, ironically, it actually would feel a little more like an ordinary episode if it aired in season 4. After all, Dwayne Pride’s going to be back around his only NCIS fam! That’s been a minute. He has been away from the group, in fact, since early on this season. He’s avoided the office mostly out of obligation because of his title — he left to get away from the danger, but let’s be honest: He craves the danger. He may not like it, but it’s a part of him. It’s in his DNA.

Do you know what’s not in Pride’s DNA? Going to an office all day and wearing a suit … or dealing with a staff of people with virtually zero field experience that’s what he’s been dealing with as of late.

Before we do too much else, let’s go ahead and share the official NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 17 synopsis:

“Reckoning” – After a reshuffling of assignments, Pride is no longer Special Agent in Charge of the Southeast and returns to the New Orleans NCIS office during the investigation of a missing petty officer, on NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, Tuesday, March 12 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Is Pride leaving his old position and going back to his even-older one … for good? We don’t wanna guarantee anything right now, but there’s a cause for some optimism that he’ll be able to dive back into this world and around some of his old pals. Also, we know that he’s got a case to take care of. We don’t think that there’s going to be a big opportunity for him to have some sort of big “welcome home” party because of that … he’s going to be too busy getting back to his old job and with his familiar crew.

We do think that this move-back is coming at the right time, mostly due to the fact that we’re reasonably close to the finale. This is a chance for the writers to really build up some momentum with Pride and the rest of the characters … and with it hopefully building up to some sort of fantastic conclusion to the season. It’s better having him around the likes of Lasalle, Sebastian, Wade, and the others now rather than just right before the finale. You gotta get some of that chemistry going again … though it’s not like we think he’s lost it. While Pride has been a little bit more separated lately from his old crew, they’ve done a good job of giving you little scenes with him and the team. They’ve found a way to make NCIS: New Orleans still very much a family atmosphere.
