SWAT season 2 episode 17 return date: Debbie Allen returns
The bad news is something that nobody really wants to hear: There is no new episode airing next week. Yet, the good news is that you’ll see the show soon on the other side of the hiatus. SWAT will return on Thursday, March 7 with new episodes starting at 10:00 p.m. Eastern, and that begins with “Jack.” This is an episode that, fittingly, revolves around a carjacking ring. Beyond that, this is also an episode that will feature a return appearance from Debbie Allen as Charice. Who knew that we’d be so lucky to get so many appearances from her this season? She’s an executive producer/director over on Grey’s Anatomy, and to go along with that, she plays Catherine Fox. How she manages to balance all of this out remains a wonder and we’re glad to have her back.
Of course, this entire episode isn’t just some lengthy conversation between Charice and Hondo; there’s a lot of other big stuff happening here, including a deep-dive into Hondo’s past.

“Jack” – The SWAT team tries to zero in on the next target of a carjacking ring that’s using deadly force to boost luxury vehicles all over Los Angeles. Also, Hondo takes a big step to help his childhood friend’s incarcerated son, Darryl (Deshae Frost), and SWAT team leader Mumford (Peter Onorati) weighs a major decision, on S.W.A.T., Thursday, March 7 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Debbie Allen returns as Charice Harrelson, Hondo’s mother.
Our feeling on this episode is that you will see these characters live within some separate worlds. At one point, you will see Hondo working with the team for the betterment of the city of Los Angeles. On the other side of it, you will see him falling back into his childhood and experiencing some things that are important to the person he was. These, in turn, help to inform who he is … and also the relationship that he has with his mother.
