Jane the Virgin season 5 spoilers: Chicago PD alum Sophia Bush to guest star

Here is another reason to be excited for Jane the Virgin season 5 when it premieres later this year: Sophia Bush will appear!

In a post on Instagram, the former Chicago PD star herself confirmed that she will be stopping by for at least one episode on the Gina Rodriguez series … though there aren’t too many details available about her role. This is a major get for the final season of Jane the Virgin, which has had a rather impressive array of guest stars over time including Britney Spears and Gloria Estefan. While it may not have ever been much of a ratings titan during its run, it didn’t really need to be. It had quality on its side and that led to a whole flurry of known names signing on and wanting to contribute something to the story.

Bush’s television appearances have been reasonably limited since departing Chicago PD — an experience that she described as miserable for her by the end of its run. She appeared in an episode of the short-lived comedy Alex, Inc. last year, and now has a new potential project in development over at CBS in Surveillance. Hopefully, we will learn a little bit more about its status later this year; it could end up leading to a full-time return to TV for the actress.

For now though, we’re glad to see Sophia back on TV with a role that could prove to be plenty of fun — she also certainly has a history with The CW that dates all the way back to her time on One Tree Hill.
