Blue Bloods season 9 spoilers: Will Lou Diamond Phillips come back?

Blue Bloods season 9

Do you want to see more of Lou Diamond Phillips on Blue Bloods season 9 as much as we do? Based on most current evidence, it does seem likely that he will be back and we couldn’t be more thrilled!

According to a new report from TVLine, there will be an upcoming episode later this season in which Danny Reagan could have a chance to avenge Linda’s death — which in theory suggests that Phillips could return as the signature villain this season in Delgado. The last time we saw him, he made it pretty clear that the death of Danny’s wife was not an accident … which really does set the stage for some more drama coming up down the line. It’s always felt like Delgado would be back at some point this season, which Phillips himself recently insinuated in a post on Twitter.

How a show like Blue Bloods handles Big Bads is of course rather different from some more serialized shows, largely because it’s hard for them to tell a consistent story from one week to the next. Really, getting a chance to see a single adversary three or four times over the course of the season is the best thing that we can possibly hope for, and we feel rather lucky to have that happen here. Delgado is not a likable guy — we’re talking about a drug cartel hitman, after all, and someone who has a history of doing some rather terrible stuff.

Yet, at the same time, you want to have strong, compelling villains to flesh out a show like this. The more we know about Delgado, the better it is for Blue Bloods as a whole. This series is always going to be a little bit stronger when they have a formidable adversary in it and we’re more than happy to see one here. We just hope that Danny can get a little bit of closure, and then also deal more with the emotional aftermath that his wife was targeted because of him. One of the only ways that he was originally able to handle some of his grief was thinking that he had nothing to do with what happened to Linda. Now, it’s clear that this is not exactly the case.

Do you want to see Delgado again before Blue Bloods season 9 comes to a close? Be sure to share right now in the comments, and remember to check back soon for some other news.
