NCIS season 16 episode 15 preview: Torres becomes a mentor

Next week, NCIS season 16 episode 15 could transfer over from a notable McGee story to one that is largely about Nick Torres. That’s at least the early assumption that we are able to make about “Crossing the Line,” which is coming onto CBS in one week’s time on February 26. This is a chance to see him outside of his element once more and as a consequence of some latest orders handed down by Vance. This is a common theme for this show: Nick being handed something that he doesn’t want to do on the surface, but it ends up working for him in the end.

Below, CarterMatt offers up the official NCIS season 16 episode 15 synopsis with more information when it comes to what’s ahead:

“Crossing the Line” – The NCIS team investigates a man overboard fatality from a Navy destroyer at sea. Also, Torres is frustrated with Vance’s assignment to mentor three high school students, on NCIS, Tuesday, Feb. 26 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

The second part of this story is the part that is certainly easier to talk about, mostly because it’s something a little bit different — it’s not often that NCIS as a show throws a lot of high-school characters in the mix! (Ironically, this is the second straight week where they are going to be a big part of the story.) In getting back to Torres, we do want to know a little bit more about his past — and, in the process, wouldn’t it be nice to have something more when it comes to an update on his relationship in Bishop? We’re still waiting to see if this is going to be a will-they-or-won’t-they story that lasts or if they are just going to move into something more. We recently saw Gibbs throw one of his famous rules into the fire, so it’s opened the door to others also going up in smoke like never date a co-worker.

As for the case-of-the-week plot, we do think that it is something that fits firmly within what we know NCIS to be. Yet, there may still be a few different twists and turns that you wouldn’t expect — that is probably why the network isn’t getting too specific with anything as of yet. We just want there to be some high stakes and some exciting surprises.
