‘Downton Abbey’ season 3: Notes on Joanne Froggatt, Jessica Brown Findlay

We are waiting patiently for a new episode of “Downton Abbey” to air on ITV this weekend; but before we come to that, why don’t we share a few stories about what is happening in the world of the series for a moment? We’ll first share a brief comment from Joanne Froggatt on Ethel’s return, and then we’ll dive into some of the latest casting news that could take an actress from the show elsewhere.

The quote – When it comes to Froggatt, she makes her thoughts rather simple and clear per a chat with The Sun when it comes to the return of Amy Nuttall to the show as Ethel, who appeared for the first time this season on Sunday night’s new episode:

“We were very excited to have Amy — and Ethel — back.”

As for what we are going to see next from Froggatt’s Anna, it really is rather simple: she starts to really fear that Bates has perhaps given up while spending his time locked away behind bars. It’s hard to really blame the man for withering away, but now the real question is whether or now Anna can find a way to shake him out of it. As for Ethel’s story, let’s just say that it is a bit more of a mystery.

The casting news – Are Sybil Crawley’s days at the Abbey numbered? Probably not, since you have to remember that there is plenty of time for some of these actors to film this series while at the same time take off and do some other work elsewhere. Deadline has reported that actress Jessica Brown Findlay is one of the young women in consideration for the role of the primary love interest in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Two of the other major TV stars currently in consideration for the role are Alison Brie of “Community” and “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke, but you also have to throw in here Imogen Poole and Teresa Palmer.
