The Flash season 5 episode 15 spoilers: Who is Shay Lamden?

King Shark

The Flash season 5 episode 15 is going to be coming onto The CW after a fairly substantial wait on March 5 … but there’s definitely going to be a reason why it’s so worthwhile. After all, you’ve got an appearance from King Shark and Gorilla Grodd in the same episode! These are two of the show’s most-popular villains, and you’ll get a chance to see them go toe to toe … and also understand more of King Shark’s mythology in the process.

Below, CarterMatt has the official The Flash season 5 episode 15 synopsis with some other news on what’s ahead:

THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN – When Gorilla Grodd (voiced by David Sobolov) attacks Central City, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Team Flash find themselves teaming up with an unexpected ally to defeat him – King Shark (voiced by David Hayter). However, when they hit a snag, they bring in Dr. Tanya Lamden (guest star Zibby Allen) to try to reach the man behind the shark, Shay Lamden (guest star Dan Payne). Stefan Pleszczynski directed the episode written by Eric Wallace & Lauren Certo (#515). Original airdate 3/5/2019.

Do we think that The Flash as a series really needs to give you some King Shark backstory? Not necessarily, given that this is a character who mostly exists for diehard comics fans … and for people who enjoy the show’s sillier side. Yet, we don’t think that it really hurts for us to get to know King Shark a little bit better since he is such a unique character and we don’t think that this is one that the writers will ever want to fully eradicate from their world. While we realize that he’s one of the more expensive characters to put on the show (the CGI work isn’t easy!), you can typically put him on for an episode or two a season — it’s enough to say that you got your dose of the character, while allowing yourself the opportunity to move on to some other stories. King Shark and Gorilla Gross just aren’t going to be Big Bads on this show … unless someone brings millions of dollars to The CW and Warner Bros TV with the hopes of them making it happen.
