Absentia season 2

On Friday, the folks over at Sony (and the Portuguese branch of AXN, who broadcasts the show in the country) released a couple of new teases for the new season. One of them is an official poster for the new season — for those wondering, the slogan mentioned here translates (roughly) to “the evil is done, the danger continues.” That’s a pretty clear indicator that there is a lot of chaos coming still in the life of Emily Byrne, a woman who clearly has been tormented a great bit so far but is fairly far from being out of the woods.

You also see in this poster a number of different faces for Stana Katic’s Emily Byrne, which could be indicative in some way of the different stages and parts of her life that she is trying to compartmentalize. She’s been so many different versions of herself and she could be trying throughout the second season to be made whole.

To go along with this poster, you can also see a new photo featuring Katic below, one where Emily is noticeably glammed-up for some sort of event. Is she undercover working on some secret operation, or is she attending some sort of gala event herself? Both are worthy questions. She could be working closely with law enforcement this time around, and they could have her working on some sort of covert operation. Anytime you see a character on a show like this somewhat out of their element, there’s always an interesting reason for it. We’re just geeked-up at the moment to see precisely what that reason is.

New episodes of Absentia are going to start airing in Portugal next month; meanwhile, we’re hoping that they will be available on Amazon at some point a little bit later this year. Now that the metaphorical toothpaste is somewhat out of the tube when it comes to promotional material, hopefully there’s all sorts of other good stuff that will start to hit the internet. We’re also at that super-fun time at the moment where nobody is spoiled anymore than anyone else. (For those who do not recall, we review the show based on it airing in either Canada or America, whichever comes first.)
