Gotham season 5 episode 8 spoilers: ‘Nothing’s Shocking’; Bullock’s story

Want to know some of what’s ahead on Gotham season 5 episode 8? This episode, entitled “Nothing’s Shocking,” could prove to be the biggest Harvey Bullock storyline this season. It’s also got an interesting place in the story. This installment was actually filmed after the series finale, which is in part because of Fox adding two additional episodes to the overall order. We do wonder how well it fits into the continuity as a result of that, but knowing the skill of these writers, they were likely able to plan ahead and find a way to make things work.

If you do want some more information now as to what you can expect to see, we suggest checking out the official Gotham season 5 episode 8 synopsis below:

Bullock’s past comes back to haunt him when he and Gordon investigate two murders at Sirens. Meanwhile, Bruce and Alfred explore the tunnels beneath the city, and Penguin and Nygma’s plans to escape are thwarted by the least likely of suspects in the all-new “Nothing’s Shocking” episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, Feb. 28 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-511) (TV-14 L, V)

We’re excited for this to be a showcase for Donal Logue, given that Harvey Bullock may be one of the most underutilized Gotham characters through the better part of the past few seasons. If you think back to season 1, it felt like he had a much more prominent focus. That was back when this series felt a little more like a gritty police procedural, and not so much the weird, wacky Batman adaptation that it has since become. We do appreciate the story of Gotham where it is now, but wish that Bullock didn’t get left out as much as he has. Logue’s a gifted actor, one of the best on TV, and he deserves to get some good opportunities to shine.

As for the Penguin – Nygma storyline, we wonder how much that is tied to what we know Oswald is up to at this particular moment in time. He’s finally decided that there is nothing left in Gotham for him to rule over and because of that, he’s trying to take off and reboot his life elsewhere. It is such a perfectly human reaction from someone who often otherwise fashions themselves as this sort of maniacal mastermind who cares about little other than power of validation — he thinks that these are often the only ways in which for him to be whole.
