YOU season 2 spoilers: Gotham’s Robin Lord Taylor signs on
So what do we know about this part right now? According to a report from Deadline, Taylor is going to be playing the part of Will on the series. He’s described as a “thoughtful, personable and highly intelligent guy” who is forced to deal with some pretty unfortunate stuff — namely, he’s got a job that requires him to deal with unhappy people. He’s going to find himself in a bind at some point during this second season.
Taylor is joining YOU during what is clearly the height of the show’s popularity. The first season was somewhat under-the-radar when it aired on Lifetime, and it was eventually switched over to being a Netflix original. What’s so fascinating about this is that soon after arriving on the streaming service, YOU became an enormous hit and there are all of these articles out there boasting about its performance. This is one of those situations where you really are left to question whether or not there is anything cable TV can do to recover from the streaming TV movement — even when they have good shows, it’s still hard for some of them to find an audience.
YOU should be lucky to have Taylor, a fantastic actor who managed to somehow make an extremely-iconic role his own over the past several seasons. Some of his other TV credits include The Walking Dead and Law & Order — kudos to him for finding a role so soon after the end of his current show, and one that is presumably going to give him a chance to take on something completely and utterly different.
There are still several episodes of Gotham airing on Fox until we get around to the premiere of YOU, and the next new one is airing on Thursday. The series finale is going to end with a more fully-realized version of the character than what we’ve seen to date.
