Law & Order: SVU season 20 episode 15 video: Jennifer Esposito in action
Who is the former Blue Bloods / NCIS star playing? think along the lines of Phoebe Baker, the head of the Vice unit and someone who Fin (Ice-T) has a history with from his earlier days in the force. The two have an established rapport, and they are going to work together in order to stop what is a ring of pop-up brothels that are turning up around the city.
What’s the big challenge here? As the sneak peek (via TVLine) makes it clear, a lot of these places are fundamentally fairly hard to track. They routinely change locations so that they cannot be found, and the often mask their locations to the best of their ability now online. They don’t want anyone to know easily where they are located, given that this way, they can avoid detection.
What Fin and Baker are going to be doing within this episode is trying to hunt down the person running the brothels, but that’s of course going to be easier said than done. If this person is able to take so many steps in order to avoid his business being detected, they is probably going to be doing something very similar for the sake of protecting themselves. Be prepared to see a rather slippery character, someone who is wicked, controlling, and who is not going to be altogether interested in talking to the police.
If you’ve been looking for a fin episode of SVU (we only get so many of them a season), this one should be up your alley. This certainly had to be a rather challenging one to film, mostly because the cast was forced to deal with some horrendously-low temperatures when this was filmed a little bit earlier this year. Kudos to everyone for still managing to do their jobs, and hopefully along the way telling a powerful story that will feature some of these characters tested. Along the way, maybe we’ll get a better sense as to Baker and Fin’s history working together and what sort of bond that translates to outside of the job. We’d absolutely love to see Esposito come back at some point down the line, so fingers crossed this episode yields that very opportunity.
