‘South Park’ spoilers: ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ spoof underway
If there is one thing that has become a staple of “South Park” as much as anything else over the years, it is the show’s famous habit for airing episodes that film on incredibly short production cycles. Therefore, it generally makes for some of the most topical scripted content out of anything on television.
For a prime example of just how far Trey Parker and Matt Stone are willing to go for this coming season, all you have to do is look at the new video below. Why? Let’s just say that it features one of the craziest pop culture phenomenons of the past year in “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.” The teaser for the episode Wednesday night is actually pretty clean by “South Park” standards, and really all it shows off is the show’s version of Alana Thompson throwing a little bit of a hissy fit over what pig she wants from a pen. As the image to the left shows, we will also be seeing a version of family matriarch June Shannon, and even daddy Mike a.k.a. “Sugar Bear” will also be making an appearance.
As for what else this story will revolve around, let’s just say that Honey Boo Boo runs into some conflict with Eric Cartman while at school, which should not come as a surprise to anyone considering that Alana in our eyes is really the female version of him. (Mountain Dew is her version of Cheesy Poofs.)
This episode is coming on the heels of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” being renewed already for additional episodes along with three specials revolving around Halloween, Christmas, and Thanksgiving in the Shannon household. While the ratings for it have been pretty strong, the impact the show as a whole has had on watercooler conversation has been even stronger.
What do you think about this video, and do you think Honey Boo Boo is the right place for “South Park” to go?
