NCIS season 16 episode 14 preview: McGee returns to high school

Next week, NCIS season 16 episode 14 will air and it is bringing you “Once Upon a Tim” — an episode that could be a personal favorite. If you love McGee as much as we do then this is probably the spotlight episode you’ve been wanting for a while. Margo Harshman will be back as Delilah (YAY!) and beyond that, you are also going to have an opportunity to visit his past in a rather surprising way.

“Once Upon A Tim” – McGee reluctantly visits his high school after the unique computer password he used as a teenager is linked to the murder of a department of defense contractor. The case escalates when an intruder breaks into McGee’s home in an attempt to steal his archaic high school computer, on NCIS, Tuesday, Feb. 19 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

For those of you who love taking deep-dives into the nineties, this episode is more than likely going to offer up that very thing. You’ll get some reminders of what Tim’s life was like way back when, and we already have a feeling that it was far from perfect. Given the word “reluctantly” in the synopsis, it’s probably fair to think that McGee did not have a particularly great time while he was in high school (as many of us can relate to). There may have been some parts of it that were pretty much terrible for him and he’s still trying to come to grips with that.

As for how the rest of the team could be involved here, isn’t someone going to be looking for the person responsible for the break-in? While this is probably going to be a big episode for Sean Murray, at the same time we imagine it will be a team effort to try and stop the bad guy in his tracks.

Could the events of tonight’s “She” have any bearing?

It’s a fair question to wonder, based on the way in which the episode was promoted. Yet, we’ve come to know over the years that NCIS has a tendency to be super-procedural with its stories and even if there is something for the writers to pick up on after this episode, they could wait a while before giving it to us.
