This Is Us season 3 episode 13 preview: ‘Our Little Island Girl’

Moving into This Is Us season 3 episode 13 on NBC, the stage is set for some of what we can expect to see. “Our Little Island Girl” is an installment mostly about Bethany Clarke — or, Bethany Pearson. Really, it’s about both eras of this character’s life. This is the long-awaited Beth episode that you have heard so much about over the past month or so and you are going to have a chance in here to learn more about who Beth was, who she is, and also who she wants to be. This is more than just an origin story for the character; it’s almost a panoramic look and it’s long over due.

Tonight, you briefly heard about the foundation for this episode, as Beth is heading home after her mother (played by Phylicia Rashad) had an accident. She’s going to do what she can in this episode to help her, and we also imagine that we will be able to see a little bit more of Zoe, as well. This character, after all, is a critical part of Beth’s past … in addition to being a big part of Kevin’s present. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know the full extent of what is going on with him at the moment.

02/19/2019 (09:00 PM – 10:01 PM) (Tuesday): Beth’s trip home to care for her mother sparks an unexpected realization. TV-14

It’s that “unexpected realization’ part of this that stands out. What that could be is something that really helps to further define what Beth’s future within this world could be. Our prediction is that, in one way or another, it relates to dance or ballet. It’s something that we saw tied to the future version of Beth in the flash-forwards, and we know from some of the promotional photos that are out there of this character that it’s also going to be an enormous part of her past.

For now, let’s at least celebrate that Randall and Beth’s relationship seems to be in a somewhat-better place, though we’re well-aware with this particular show that this may not be especially long-lasting. There are chances at any given second for things to turn on a dime.
