Project Blue Book season 2 renewal official; Knightfall premiere date

Knightfall episode 6

Anyone interested in getting some news on a couple of History Channel series? Well, let’s start with the renewal of Project Blue BookThe Aiden Gillen – Michael Malarkey series has formed reasonably well in the ratings so far, and we do think that there’s a lot of story here left to tell.

Also, History just needs to establish a solid stable of original, scripted programming. Given the fact that Vikings is ending with season 6 and a future spin-off is still in question, they need to get as many other scripted programs on the schedule. This is a way to lock in at least one show and they should feel pretty darn good about that.

In a new statement, History head of programming Eli Lehrer had the following to say about the renewal being official:

“We are believers in Project Blue Book, and so is our audience who has sparked a conversation about the hundreds of unsolved cases and our nation’s military response to UFOs that have remained relatively secret until now … Zemeckis, A+E Studios and our extraordinary creative team have shaped a compelling narrative that is the perfect blend of historical authenticity and entertainment that inspires curiosity in our viewers to learn more. We’ve touched on a very relevant topic and look forward to a second season.”

What about Knightfall season 2?

We already knew that this was coming and beyond just that, we also knew that it is going to feature Mark Hamill in another prominent role.

On Monday, March 25 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, you’re going to get a chance to see the latest batch of episodes on the air. There’s a lot to expect and look forward to here beyond just the presence of Hamill, as this season is going to be political, action-packed, dramatic, and hopefully a step up from season 1 in just about every way possible.

Do we think that Hamill’s presence could lead to a season 3 renewal? We do think that there is a reasonably good chance of that. Of course, a lot of that will depend on the ratings. If there is one reason to have concern at the moment, it’s simply that it has been such a long time since the show was on the air. That can sometimes prove to be rather detrimental to a show’s performance.
