Chesapeake Shores renewed for season 4; movie spin-off in the works

Chesapeake Shores

This weekend, Hallmark Channel cemented the future of Chesapeake Shores for at least one more season. The network officially renewed the series for a season 4!

The good news is that we’re going to be seeing some more stories within this world, and that includes a movie spin-off, one that will focus on Meghan Ory, Emilie Ullerup and Laci Mailey’s characters from the original show. The bad news is that the fourth season is only set to be for six episodes. The series will return at some point this summer, and we imagine that there will be some more news when it comes to the future of the show over time.

In a statement about the season 4 renewal, here is what Michelle Vicary, the Executive Vice President, Programming and Network Publicity, for Crown Media Family Networks, had to say:

“Viewers have found a home in their hearts for ‘Chesapeake Shores’ and have consistently made it a top performing show year-after-year … We look forward to further exploring the show’s heartfelt and compelling storylines as characters navigate the complexities of life and love.”

Just in case you are wondering what the spin-off movie could be about, we’ve also got the official logline for that below:

With the winter weather dreary in Chesapeake Shores and their own love lives in a complicated state, Abby (Ory), Bree (Ullerup) and Jess (Mailey), adventure to Rome for the wedding of a childhood friend. While in Rome, they discover the wedding plans are in complete chaos and the bride may have a case of pre-wedding jitters because she has gone missing. In an attempt to find the bride, the O’Brien sisters scour the sites of Rome and work to create a happily ever after, while ultimately realizing the romance they each deserve back home in Chesapeake Shores.

Ultimately, this does feel perfectly suited for what we know the world of Chesapeake Shores to be. This is going to be an emotional movie event at times, but also likely something that is very fun and different. There’s always something about escapism that works for viewers — as viewers, we do think that there’s something appealing and romantic about being in a new setting.
