MacGyver season 3 episode 15 promo: Meeting Desi Nguyen

First and foremost, it does seem like Desi is going to keep the series focused around action — if this is one of the reasons that you watch, you’re almost certainly going to like some of what’s next. Levy Tran’s character has no problem getting mixed up with some bad guys, and we see at least one rather impressive stunt just in this first promo below.
Beyond just that, though, it’s clear from the get-go that the Phoenix Foundation isn’t even treating Desi the same as Jack Dalton. Rather than being a partner of sorts to Angus MacGyver, she is serving almost more as a bodyguard while Mac is the asset. Her job is to help protect him and keep him safe, which could be a source of conflict at times. Think about Mac — this is a guy who has a tendency to freelance out in the field, and he often goes against direct orders for the sake of getting the job done.
Then, there’s also this issue: How much is Desi really going to trust him? She doesn’t have the experience that Jack has, which is why we imagine there being some resistance. It’s going to take a little bit of time in order for these two to get used to working with each other, but that is part of the fun.
Of course, one other thing to be excited for is getting a chance to learn a little bit more about her personal life. We don’t really know anything about who she is outside of her work at the moment — is she a possible love interest for someone, a loner, or someone with a sense of humor? She seems super-serious at the moment but that may be because the walls aren’t down. Like many other people in her line of work, we have a hard time thinking that she is going to be open to the team right away. This is probably going to take a little while.
