Supernatural 300th episode ratings surge; Legacies improves

Last night’s milestone episode, which ended up featuring the big return of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as John Winchester, ended up generating overall a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which ties for the show’s best rating since March 2018. As for total viewers, the series generated 1.64 million, its best measure in that same window. Anytime that the show can post its best numbers in a good 11 months or so, it’s worth celebrating. This does also push up the ratings averages of Supernatural to a certain extent; its ratings have been down for most of the year, though it has already been renewed for season 15 and there is technically nothing to worry about in terms of the near future.
Of course, we do anticipate that the ratings are going to fall moving forward, though we’d say in general that the past couple of episodes have been great — some of our favorites for a long time with the show. Last night’s return for John ended up proving to be deeply meaningful.
As for Legacies… – The good news carries over! Last night’s new episode generated a 0.4 rating and also 1.15 million viewers — its best numbers of the entire season. This is the sort of performance that does leave you rather hopeful that the show can stick around for a good while, beyond just the season 2 that it’s already got. The most important thing, though, is that it got this rating for a solid episode that will hopefully show what it’s capable of to some more viewers. Fingers crossed that this is something that carries over as we continue for the rest of the season. Legacies operates with a smaller episode order than Supernatural, so really it just needs to make the most of the time that it is on the air … even if it is a fairly short period of time in turn. It’ll be wrapped up on the CW in the matter of just a couple of months, so we have to go ahead and be prepared for that.
