Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen episode 11: Michelle Minori enters

Top Chef -

Following tonight’s new episode, we’ve already got a look at Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen episode 11 … featuring Michelle Minori! Following her elimination on the flagship show, she had to head over to the web series in the hopes of defeating David. He’s certainly a solid contender, and this was a really tough challenge.

What was the most fascinating part of this episode? It has to do with the Top Chef version of a shot clock. This was introduced as a means to keep everyone moving at a pretty-rapid pace, especially when it comes to one simple instrument — a knife. It’s the only one that was available in the kitchen for the two chefs, and they had to alternate using it every 30 seconds.

So basically, the first order of business was coming up with dishes that weren’t too knife-dominant — the second was not getting altogether frustrated by such a distraction in your typical way of doing things. At a certain point, David just started to get some frustrated by the knife rules that he just started to use his hands for a lot of the tasks! We don’t blame him, given that this was a really tricky challenge. Michelle chose to do pasta (far from easy), while David decided that he would attempt meatballs and bread in a super-short period of time.

Regardless of how the two dishes panned out in the end, it was certainly clear that the two chefs were going for it.

What did Tom actually think?

It’s almost fair to say that Michelle created an upscale version of a chili pasta; meanwhile, David’s completed dish was Mediterranean in nature. Both of them had a lot to be thankful about, and they also had a lot to be hungry for moving forward. After all, in just a short period of time, one of the two of them was able to move forward to the next round!

Tom seemed to like both of the dishes, but there were some issues with each one of them as well. Part of that probably comes down to the difficulties that went along with only having one knife. That seemed to be what doomed David more than anything, since he had some big chunks in his meatball that would have probably not been there in better circumstances.

Now, we’ll just have to see whether or not Michelle can make it back into the main competition once more!
