The Walking Dead: Could Lauren Cohan’s Maggie return in movie form?

At the moment, it appears as though Lauren Cohan’s time on The Walking Dead season 9 is done — the actress is off doing her new show Whiskey Cavalier, and we’ve hardly had a chance to see Maggie in the current timeline following the flash-forward.

Of course, don’t assume that Maggie is gone for good — there have long been talks that she could find her way to the show and beyond just that, it does appear as though there’s some interest that it could happen. Depending on the success of her new show and its schedule, it’s certainly possible Cohan could make a return during season 10. Beyond that, though, there’s also a chance that she could join the movie universe, which is something that we’re going to be seeing for Andrew Lincoln’s character of Rick Grimes coming up. There’s no specific time-frame for these movies just yet, but it’s certainly worth noting that Lauren seems to be open to the idea of coming back in that form. Not only that, but it feels as though there have even been some conversations on the subject.

While at the TCA Winter Press Tour today promoting her upcoming show, here is just some of what Cohan had to say (via TVLine) on the subject of a Maggie return:

There may have been some conversations, but everything is so early-days, ambiguous. [Again,] we’ll have to see what happens.”

In the end, we do think that Cohan will resurface on this franchise in some shape or form, but it may take a little bit of patience for us to know exactly how that comes about. For Lauren, the best thing she can do is take things one gig at a time — start things off with Whiskey Cavalier and then go from there.

You’re going to see The Walking Dead season 9 return to AMC this month with new episodes — while it’s certainly possible we end up seeing some sort of surprise cameo from Cohan, at present, we’re not exactly holding our breath. We do think that there are going to be at least some surprises, including hopefully the presence of the Whisperers.
