For those eager to finally get a trailer for Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, the good news is that the wait is almost over!
In a new post on Twitter, Freeform confirmed that there will be an official trailer coming up for the long-awaited spin-off on Tuesday. The show is premiering later this year and by all estimations, it’s going to set out to give you some of what you’ve come to love from the original show and then some new dimensions. There are new dimensions, new drama, and of course, new mysteries. The original Pretty Little Liars was an enormous social-media sensation over at the network and we imagine that there are hopes this will do the same.
Janel Parrish (Mona) and Sasha Pieterse (Alison) are the two most-notable cast members coming back for this new version. While the network/show producers could’ve rushed getting this spin-off on the air, they clearly took their time and wanted to ensure that it would live up to some of the expectations that exist for it. The challenge for the show is simply going to be getting enough of the original Pretty Little Liars audience, while also a new generation of fans, for it to be considered a big hit. Most shows geared towards younger people have a lower retention rate, simply because as many viewers get older tastes in television change and their audience moves on. In general, spin-offs have a hard time finding a way to match the viewership of the original. This is something that Good Trouble, a spin-off for The Fosters, is dealing with at this very moment.
Ultimately, this trailer is going to go a long way in determining whether or not Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists gets off to a great start or not. It has to be (pun obviously intended) perfect, and we’re sure behind the scenes that everyone at Freeform understands that. This is clearly trailer season for the network, given that just last week they revealed for the first time the official trailer for Shadowhunters, which is returning with the final twelve episodes of season 3 (and potentially the final episodes of the series) on February 25.
Be sure to come back tomorrow when we will have more in terms of analysis of the trailer, what works and what still needs some work, and also some teases for what’s coming up next for the show as a whole.
