True Detective season 3 episode 6 preview: ‘Hunters in the Dark’
Think about investigations and how they at times have a tendency to unfold. When things don’t line up at first glance, the best thing that you can do is go back and try and revisit some of your old leads. Often, the best path to the future is through the past and it seems like that this is something that we’re going to see Hays and Roland try to do over the course of this episode.

Wayne (Mahershala Ali) and Roland (Stephen Dorff) revisit discrepancies in the Purcell case that were hidden or forgotten over the years. Among those being reevaluated is Tom Purcell (Scoot McNairy), as well as Lucy Purcell’s cousin, Dan O’Brien (Michael Graziadei). The glitter of Amelia’s (Carmen Ejogo) book release is tarnished by a voice from the past.

The latest ratings report
There’s some good news right for people who wanted to see the series moving in a positive direction — True Detective recently posted its best numbers of the season!
Last week’s new episode generated a solid audience of 1.45 million viewers live, which means that there is still some positive momentum happening at the moment when it comes to the show. Does this improve the chances of there being a season 4 at some point in the future? We certainly think so, but that’s probably going to have to do more with the show’s creative direction more so than just the numbers. So long as this season ends up being fairly well-received, we think that the interest is going to be there.
It’s nice that True Detective got the ratings that it did last week, given that tonight’s it’s almost sure to see some sort of decline. Because of the fact that it’s airing during the Super Bowl (and it was available early to many digital customers), there’s probably not going to be some huge contingent of people interested in checking out the game live.
