Call the Midwife season 8 episode 4 video: Phyllis’ journey

Call the Midwife season 8 episode 4 is slated to premiere this weekend on BBC One, and it does seem (as always) like there is some emotional stuff ahead.

So what is at the center of this particular story? From an emotional standpoint, you will see Dr. Turner find himself in a most unusual situation due to a woman who wants to terminate her pregnancy at a rather challenging time. The scene at the end of the preview below does at least give you a sense of what the stakes are going to be here. We know that Nonnatus House and Poplar at large are used to emergencies, but that doesn’t make any individual one altogether easy.

As for what you’re going to see elsewhere within this episode, be prepared for a particularly fascinating storyline for Phyllis as she embarks on a personal journey. There’s something that we do like about the individual storylines that give you more of a sense as to who someone is outside the job. We know a good bit about Nurse Crane, but what about Phyllis? We know that they are one in the same, but there’s obviously a difference between the person you are at work and then also how you choose to spend some of your time when you are away from the office. This episode should offer up a fun opportunity to explore that a little bit more.

Also, go ahead and add to this the return of Trixie’s keep-fit class if you want to get a full sense of what is coming within this episode. This is basically an opportunity to harken back to some past seasons of the show while also having some fun telling a story in the present. We’re anticipating some exciting stuff from Call the Midwife over the course of tonight and we just hope that the series ends up living up to its typical expectations. When this show is really at its best, there isn’t altogether much else like it on television.
