Shadowhunters season 3 trailer: Clary’s fate, a wedding, and so much more

So what’s to love about this trailer? There’s really so much in between Magnus and Alec training, a possible wedding for a couple of characters (you may very well know who it is already), the future of Luke’s werewolf pack, Clary’s return, her harrowing future, and some good stuff for Simon and Izzy. No matter who is your favorite character on this show, it really does feel like there’s something for you to like and that’s a pretty rare feeling for a series like this. How often does that happen?
The best takeaway from it, though, is mostly that we’re building up towards something epic, something where the real Jonathan will be featured, Lilith will return, and the future of the Institute and beyond is in great peril. Executive producers Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin have had a near-impossible task from the beginning with this series, mostly because they’ve had to find a way to balance out offering closure to longtime fans while also leaving the door open for something more down the line. Freeform is promoting these episodes at the end of the road, and that’s what you have to assume for now — but you never quite know what the future is going to hold.
Is there anything sad about this trailer?
We’d say there are two things, with the first being that it’s so short. Why only a minute? That really just is on the borderline of what we could consider cool for a trailer. Beyond that, the other is simply realizing how close we are to the end of this season/potentially the series. We hope that there are some other video teases put out between now and when the show premieres in proper on February 25; there’s absolutely a lot more to set up, and a lot of specific things viewers are going to want to see. We also hope that Freeform does make an effort to make the series appealing, as well, to viewers who are not altogether familiar with Shadowhunters alongside the diehard fans — we would like to see it get the largest ratings possible.
In the end, it’s fair to say that this trailer is going to get more than a few people excited about what’s coming up for the series next.
