Going into this upcoming episode, we have a sense as to where the hierarchy stands at the firm — Louis Litt is still in charge as managing partner, and with that, it is up to just about everyone else to fall in line and find their place. As for whether or not everyone listens … well, signs point to no. That’s especially the case when it comes to Harvey Specter, who has a time-honored tradition of listening to pretty much no one and it’s hard to see that changing at any point in the near future.
Does he respect Louis? To a certain extent, sure, so that’s not the real point of contention in the promo below. Instead, it’s more just the fact that Harvey has his own way of doing things and he doesn’t exactly love the idea of Louis trying to get some element of control over him and whatever he decides to do. This is where a lot of the drama comes from, and this sets the foundation for what’s almost-certainly going to be a great episode. Harvey is going to continue to do what he wants, and Louis is going to fight him, every step of the way.
The truth of the matter here is that if Harvey and Louis are going to make this relationship works, there’s going to need to be a certain degree of Balance. There are some times in which it benefits Louis to listen to what Harvey has to say. However, there are also going to be times when it benefits him to put his foot down. Harvey sometimes can get so invested in a cause that he fails to see the forest through the trees. At this point, Louis should know Harvey well enough to know how to talk him down. Whether or not that turns out to be the case is something we will find out on Wednesday night when the show actually airs.
