Criminal Minds season 14 episode 14 video: A serial killer ghost hunter?

Criminal Minds season 14 episode 14 is airing on CBS Wednesday night, and this one seems to be especially creepy. We are dealing with a serial killer, and one who seems to have some really specific motives for why they are doing what they are.

In the video below, you can see a briefing on the latest UnSub, who is profiled as a woman who seems to have an obsession with the paranormal. While it seems easy to label her a ghost hunter, she’s instead almost a ghost creator in that she’s taking so many lives away. Yet, the reason she is doing so is apparently because she thinks her victims are infected. In her mind, the only way to save the town is to kill these people in a particular way and ensure that the evil within them does not spread. This is someone probably familiar with many urban legends and local lore.

One of the things that we’re the most curious about entering an episode like this is just how extensive the writers look into the history of a given setting — we can’t say that we’re familiar with any local legends for Lewiston, Maine (where this story is set), but at the same exact time we know that this is a place that has been around for centuries — it’s older than the vast majority of American cities and with that, it has to have a really-cool history that is certainly worth exploring.

In terms of building up stakes for the remainder of this story, one thing to know is this — this episode marks the penultimate one of the season! While it’s not 100% clear at the moment if this leads into the finale in any way, it’s something that will likely be on the minds of many over the course of this hour. It’s hard for it not to be when you think about what we know what’s on the other side of it — a big conclusion to this season, and then after that, the final season and a culmination of the entire story to date. That’s going to be emotional, but we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves right now when there is so much more interesting stuff to come.
