Knightfall season 2 teaser: Mark Hamill, Tom Cullen front and center

Knightfall episode 6

When History renewed Knightfall for a season 2, they clearly had some plans to take things to the next level. While the series had its fans in season 1, the ratings were not off the charts and because of that, we wondered just what they were going to do to boost some attention around the property since this a really great show that everyone really should tune in to watch.

Clearly, the network has figured out a great way to do that, and it involves getting Mark Hamill on board as one of the series’ leads. You’re going to see Hamill in a prominent role throughout the second season as Talus, described as a “battle-hardened Knight Templar veteran of the Crusades, who survived captivity for ten years in the Holy Land and is tasked with training the new initiates to the Order.” He’s someone who will bring a great deal of gravitas to the show, and of course convince a number of Star Wars / Batman: The Animated Series stars to watch. He is one of those people whose presence alone attracts viewers and he could read a phone book and people would tune in — Hamill picks and chooses his roles carefully these days, and we’re glad that there’s something else in a live-action form that will allow him to do something a little bit different.

The new teaser promo for the upcoming season features Hamill alongside original series star Tom Cullen, and we imagine that much of season 2 will explore further what it means to be a Knight Templar and the politics that go into being in the region. The show contains a lot of action, some intense drama, but also thought-provoking conversation about religion and the impact that it has on day-to-die life, especially if you find yourself living within this particular region.

We definitely recommend going back and watching the first season in order to get a proper lay of the land and understanding of the characters. Yet, at the same time we don’t think that it is necessary viewing in order to get a good grip on what is happening with the series at large. With History likely knowing that Hamill’s presence will attract new viewers, they will probably start off season 2 with a quick montage of important moments from season 1 — they’ll likely tell you what you need to know and then dive into some new stuff.

Knightfall season 2 will premiere later this year.
