Lucifer season 4 spoilers: More talk on Graham McTavish’s character

Lucifer

There is so much to ultimately be excited about when it comes to Lucifer season 4, but Graham McTavish’s character is fairly high up the list. Father Kinley could prove to be a fascinating addition to the show — it may not be fair to refer to him as a Big Bad, but it certainly feels as though he will have an opposition to Lucifer and much of the work that he does. (To avoid the obvious, it goes far beyond just him being a normal priest.)

So what exactly are Kinley’s motives in relation to some of the other characters this season? Speaking via TVLine, here is what star Tom Ellis had to say:

“The priest very much has got an axe to grind … He’s kind of obsessed with this prophecy having to do with the Devil walking the earth and finding his first love, and when that happens evil will be released upon the world. He truly, truly believes that.”

Of course, Kinley has to know that Lucifer is the devil before any chaos can be properly unleashed, and we imagine that this is going to be one order of business this season. One thing that could make Kinley a little bit more paranoid is the presence of Eve this season — she and Lucifer certainly have a history and with her being one of the first humans, you could easily throw around that label of “first love” if you wanted to.

We know from his work on Outlander and Preacher that McTavish is a capable performer who can deliver drama and a lot of emotion in any scene, and we firmly expect the same to be true here. We do also like that so much of his arc is still shrouded in mystery, since that does lead to there being a good many questions about where the story is going to go from here and also how someone like Lucifer can really take him on. Because he seems to be so emboldened by a prophecy, it’s going to be hard to get him to see a different perspective. Even if you do take him out at the end of the season, that may not do anything to change how he feels.

Lucifer season 4 will start streaming later this year on Netflix.
