Good Trouble episode 4 preview: Callie’s BBQ surprise; is Mariana quitting?
At the end of tonight’s episode, Callie did help to oversee her first constitutional case — one that is going to trial. It’s a nice feather in her cap for her future as a prospective attorney. Yet, this is going to get complicated for her in the event that some other people figure out her connection to some of the people involved … and Ben already suspects something judging from what he saw in court. Callie’s been through a lot, but she is still inexperienced in this world. She’s going to make mistakes, but this one could be especially costly. If Judge Wilson thinks that she is tainting the case, she could be removed from it or so much worse. It doesn’t help that there are certainly other people who would love to have this case in a heartbeat.
Professional struggle seems to be one of the key themes for “Playing the Game,” as Mariana is going to wonder whether or not she’s in the right place at work. For more on that, be sure to check out the synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below:
Judge Wilson invites Callie and the other clerks over for a seemingly friendly BBQ that takes an unexpected turn. Mariana deals with a lack of diversity in her workplace and questions whether it’s the right place for her. Alice struggles with the responsibilities of managing the Coterie.
Are there some serious problems for Mariana at the job? Absolutely, but it’s like she was told tonight — not every dude there is the worst. Some are going to be supportive and helpful if she can find them, and it actually seems like her boss Evan is at least intrigued by her — we thought previously that he was spineless and had someone yell at her over the elevator-pitch, but it actually seems instead like that wasn’t the case. He may actually be willing to talk to her and hear more about some of her ideas, at least in the event she continues to take initiative. That’s going to be the struggle here, given that some are actively trying to encourage her against it.
One more thing we’ll say about Callie’s story — aren’t barbecues supposed to be fun? Judge Wilson better not taint them!
