FBI episode 13 return date hopes + the latest season 2 renewal talk

FBI

Following tonight’s episode, do you want to get the FBI episode 13 return date … or at least some more scoop surrounding what could be coming up? Rest assured, CarterMatt has some scoop on both within!

The bad news here is that you’re not going to be seeing a new episode of the show next week, mostly because of CBS’ decision to broadcast the State of the Union Address in that spot. Even if it doesn’t air, don’t expect a change in the network’s schedule — they’ve already set this time aside, and they are not going to be moving an episode forward without some sort of adequate means to promote it in advance.

As for when the show is going to return, think along the lines of Tuesday, February 5 — while not 100% confirmed as of yet by CBS, it makes sense that the network would want to make the most of this lineup in February sweeps. Beyond that, this is when NCIS is returning to the air. Typically, these shows are paired together — tonight is the only night this season that this hasn’t been the case, and that’s just to compensate for a Presidential Address preemption that happened earlier this season.

While Celebrity Big Brother will have an impact on many shows moving forward the next couple of weeks, we don’t anticipate there being any conflicts with it and FBI.

So what about the future beyond that?

At the moment, there is no official season 2 confirmation, but we remain fairly optimistic that this is going to happen. The ratings dictate that this is a great success for CBS and it’s keeping most of its lead-in from NCIS proper. Our anticipation right now is that the remainder of the season is going to be about maintaining that audience, while also working further in order to build up the characters of Maggie and OA. They’re at the center of almost every case and while we’ve definitely seen more of them as of late, we still do think that there is a heck of a lot more that we have to learn about them.

Hopefully, near the end of the season we’ll see the show drift even more from its procedural format in order to bring something much bigger to the table — think in terms of either some sort of multi-part spectacle or a case that puts a major character’s life in danger. They will want to leave the audience with something big leading into the hiatus.. give us all something to talk about until it returns.
