NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Christina Aguilera talks season 4 hiatus on ‘Leno’

It’s already been pretty well-publicized at this point that “The Voice” will be coming back for a fourth season; however, the same crop of coaches are not going to be around in their famous swivel chairs. Instead, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are going to be joined by superstars Shakira and Usher while Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green each take off to work on everything from touring to developing a new comedy pilot for NBC. As for if this means that Adam and Blake will be gone for the already-announced season 5, we have to assume that it will be so.

Even though she already explained her decision to skip the spring season a few times already, Aguilera stopped by “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Friday night and made her thoughts a little bit clearer. First and foremost, she explained that she loves doing the show, and seems more than happy to go back at some point. However, she also feels it important for coaches to maintain their viability in the industry, and they need time to do that whether it be by touring, recording an album, or getting some other important projects off the group. There’s no question that this show does remain a great platform for the artists to promote their material. Both Maroon 5’s hits “Moves Like Jagger” (featuring Christina) and “Payphone” became smash hits after they were performed live for the first time on the show, and Blake has crossed over to the mainstream for the first time really thanks to being a part of the panel.

Are you going to be as excited for season 4 without Christina around?
