Top Chef: Kentucky episode 8 preview: A Below Deck crossover
So why are we seeing two Below Deck captains on this episode? Below, CarterMatt has the Top Chef: Kentucky episode 8 synopsis with some more news as to what is coming up next:
With more shoreline than Florida, Kentucky is a hotbed for houseboats. For this elimination challenge, the chefs are split into two teams and tasked with throwing raging party in Lake Cumberland. Mega-chef Emeril Lagasse joins Padma, Tom and Nilou along with Captains Sandy and Lee from Below Deck for some houseboat hysteria.
Well, you learn something new every day, right? We had no idea that any of this was true about Kentucky and its coastlines, but houseboats are a rather fascinating architectural wonder and with that, we think that there is a lot of fun stuff worth exploring here as the chefs try to acclimate themselves to this particular situation.
As for the end of the day, though, being on a houseboat isn’t all that big of a deal for the remaining chefs. Instead, it’s what actually happens on said houseboat that could be a little bit problematic. As you can see in the sneak peek below, there’s going to be a problem with the power aboard at least one of the boats. Without any power, it’s pretty darn clear that you’re not going to be able to do any cooking. This is bad … really bad, if it lasts.
Yet, we do have a feeling that one way or another, everyone’s going to find a way to figure something out here. Maybe this is just one of those fun little quirks that comes along with the competition sometimes. Let’s just hope that this is the sort of adversity that actually leads to everyone making some even better food — haven’t we seen people conquer the kitchen before like that? It’s a part of the fun that comes along with this competition.
