Criminal Minds season 14 episode 13 video: Exploring Rossi’s trauma

It’s true that the new CBS promo (which you can check out below) for “Chameleon” doesn’t exactly have a long run time — it’s only ten seconds! Yet, it does give you a good bit of information within those ten seconds, including the fact that this upcoming episode could feature Rossi dealing with what may very well be the most harrowing experience of his entire life. Let that sink in for a moment. This is a man who has taken on countless serial killers and had put life on the line more times than we can count. For something to be worse than all of that really says something about what’s coming up for him.
As for what this something could be, we know that a significant adversary will be introduced in this episode — whether or not this is the Rossi-centric Big Bad that shows up later in season 15 remains to be seen, but it’s certainly something to watch out for. Right now, Rossi’s story is all about different extremes. In one way, he should be extremely happy — happier than he’s ever been in years. He’s going to marry (well re-marry) Krystall, the woman that he loves and he recognizes that this is his chance to do things the right way (although an Elvis wedding sounds fun to us!). Yet, in contrast with that he may be haunted by a monstrosity who is out to turn his life into a living hell. This specter could be lurking through out the end of the season, and then carry over to the ten-episode send-off.
This episode marks a great opportunity for Joe Mantegna as a performer. Beyond that, it’s also a fantastic opportunity for first-time director AJ Cook. The material here certainly merits a special director and we are excited to see what kind of magic AJ can create. Knowing Criminal Minds though, this is likely magic of the especially-twisted variety.
