America’s Got Talent: The Champions: Was Courtney Hadwin – Darci Lynne result most shocking ever?

We’ll tell you that entering tonight’s episode, we had a number of different theories as to precisely how things were going to go in terms of the result. Yet, somehow the series still ended up shocking with what transpired in the closing minutes.
First, let’s note that we’re huge fans of Deadly Games and have zero issue with them getting the Golden Buzzer. It’s genuine talent from people who have trained their butts off for years for this. It also was one of the craziest stunts that we’ve seen with Heidi’s phone. This was, by far, a much-deserved Golden Buzzer for the sort of act that never gets one.
Then, you have the other result: Cristina Ramos going forward over Courtney Hadwin and Darci Lynne. If this was the regular version of the show with the public vote, this probably doesn’t happen. How did it here? Blame the mysterious superfans for the selection — maybe this is why they are mysterious? We do think that Cristina is fantastic, but the Darci snub is shocking since she is one of the best winners the American version of the show has ever had. She’s supremely talented and beyond that, a great ambassador for the show all over the country.
We do understand the need for non-traditional voting, though, with this in mind: If America as a whole voted, Cristina wouldn’t have a chance. She doesn’t have the following here the others do. This show was also filmed many months ago and it wasn’t staged live. Maybe that wouldn’t be possible.
Of course, we don’t think that there’s any reason to be too upset here given that both Courtney and Darci are more than fine. Courtney already has a record deal, whereas Darci has already had a tour all over the country and probably is going to be primed for a major show of her own in Las Vegas or somewhere else a little bit down the road. We’re just shocked about the way that everything went tonight, all things considered.
