Vera season 9 episode 1 spoilers: What lies ahead in premiere?

Vera season 9 episode 1

Tomorrow on ITV, Vera season 9 episode 1 is finally going to be coming on the air! It’s been a long wait, but DCI Vera Stanhope is almost back with another series of feature-length episodes.

The way that this show works is almost something that is quintessential to British television — you see it with shows like it and Sherlock, which choose to almost give you, more or less, movies every episode — with the downside being that there aren’t many episodes a season. We have a small batch of episodes here to enjoy, so really we just need to make the most of them for however long we have them. The good news here is simply that we know Vera to be an entertaining series and with that, we think that each one of these movies will prove to be very much interesting and compelling. Even when you don’t get just a huge flurry of episodes, all of them have been carefully plotted-out and placed.

For some details about the premiere, CarterMatt has the official Vera season 9 episode 1 synopsis for more:

DCI Vera Stanhope (Brenda Blethyn) is called to the tragic scene of the murder of Joanne Caswell. Joanne’s body is found dumped on a landfill site. Dr. Pathologist Malcolm Donahue (Paul Kaye) concludes that this has compromised any clear forensic links to the circumstances of her death.

Joanne was a trainee forensic psychologist with the promise of a bright future and a sterling reputation. Despite rifts between her parents (Adrian Lukis and Amira Ghazalla), Joanne’s life seems to be perfect and doesn’t indicate any reason why someone might have a motive to kill her.

Eventually Vera alights on the fact that Joanne had been investigating the original crime of a former prisoner. Vera must continue to follow the trail that Joanne had left behind to uncover who might have had a motive to kill her.

This season is hopefully going to find a way to combine a little bit of everything that we love, whether it be its unique setting to strong mysteries to then also giving us personal insight into all of the different characters. We also hope that it continues to be paced in a way where we do get some surprises and the show finds a way to keep us guessing.

Luckily, we’ll find out all of this tomorrow, and of course we’ll be around then in order to better render a full verdict.
