Let’s start here by getting some of the bad news out of the way — next week’s “The Roger and Me” is actually going to be the last one for the month of January. There are repeats scheduled on the other side of it and with that, we almost have to view this episode as the third part in a trilogy. Our hope is that there are some fun ideas that the show has planned for the episode with that in mind, and we also are hoping for some chances to build on some of the relationships and dynamics that we’ve seen already. Take, for example, the back-and-forth with Cole and Murtaugh as they continue to take on cases; or, Cole adjusting to being a father to Maya.

Below, CarterMatt has the official Lethal Weapon season 3 episode 12 synopsis with some additional insight as to what could be coming up next:

Murtaugh and Cole investigate the murder of an underground MMA fighter when Murtaugh realizes his fighting moves aren’t as sharp as they once were. Meanwhile, Trish is unfulfilled by her practice and considers running for a public office. Also, Cole and Erica (guest star Nishi Munshi) try to keep things casual and uncomplicated but their plan backfires when Maya (guest star Shay Rudolph) reacts to her family changes in a negative way in the all-new “The Roger and Me” episode of LETHAL WEAPON airing Tuesday, Jan. 15 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (LET-312) (TV-14 D, L, V)

The idea of Trish running for office is one storyline that has our attention, though we really do wonder how much time there is to really dive in and explore that with the amount of episodes we have left. This is certainly a compelling story, but is it better suited for a possible season 4? They could at least lay the groundwork for it now and then wait and see whether or not they actually get that season 4 renewal down the line. We’re still in the “it could go either way” phase of things when it comes to the show’s future.
