Elementary season 7: Lucy Liu on the series ending, saying goodbye

Recently, Elementary season 7 was announced as the final season of the show and for us, we are still reeling from that news. It’s been a show that has been a part of our lives for a rather long time and it’s going to be weird pushing forward without it!

Suffice it to say, it is just as weird for much of the show’s cast. Speaking in a new interview with E! on the red-carpet pre-show for the Golden Globes, series star Lucy Liu claimed that it took her a little time to process the end of the show. She referred to it as a “huge, wonderful goodbye” for all of the cast and crew, who had the luxury of knowing that they were filming their final episode prior to filming being underway for it. This show had somewhat of an interesting run, often alternating timeslots and being somewhat of a utility player for CBS over the past couple of years. Yet, it did perform well internationally and in terms of DVR ratings and these factors did help the show to stick around for a while.

Liu also made it clear that after filming, “the first realization was when I had a weekend and I didn’t have to learn lines.” (Consider this a reminder that working on a show is really a week-long affair, even if you are only filming for a certain percentage of that.)

What is Liu up to next?

In the immediate future, it appears as though the actress is stretching her wings and taking on a different sort of gig — an art one. She is heading to Singapore soon to do some more work in that space. We certainly do think that we could see her come back to television for another role at some point in the future, but that’s the sort of situation that really is up to her. She’s had such a successful run playing Joan Watson that at this point, the world really is her oyster in terms of whether or not she wants to come back and do more.

Elementary season 7 will likely premiere at some point either in the spring or the summer. For the time being, there is no official premiere window.
