Fear the Walking Dead season 5 spoilers: Dwight will cross over!

Fear the Walking Dead

As it turns out, we are going to see the future of Dwight within The Walking Dead universe — it’s just not going to be on the series proper.

According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, Austin Amelio is set to appear on Fear the Walking Dead season 5 as the aforementioned character, who was last seen prior to the time jump. This is someone who has went through a great deal of trauma and pain; at one point, he was a key cog in Negan’s larger machine.

Now, we think that he will have a chance at some greater redemption through his work with this other group, one that seems to be doing what it can to set up shop at a factory and help people who are out there within the zombie apocalypse. If Dwight ends up becoming a part of this group somehow, it would offer him up an opportunity to create a different legacy for himself. Or, it’s possible that he ends up becoming a foe somehow yet again and disappoints us all.

Dwight is the second major The Walking Dead character to come over to the spin-off series following his time on the flagship show; Lennie James’ character of Morgan was the first and he has since become a pretty integral part in the show and its story. Fear the Walking Dead season 4 proved itself to be an enormous departure from the first three in terms of its cast, so we’ll see what the look and feel is for season 5. It does see as though Daniel Sharman will be coming back (somehow) as his Fear the Walking Dead character of Troy Otto, but by and large, there are a lot of question marks out there on the new season.

What is the timeline for Fear the Walking Dead season 5?

Admittedly, it’s been all over the place with these shows. The first three seasons of the series were almost prequels but then, it was established that season 4 was largely around the same timeline as the flagship show. Now, we’re going to see Fear the Walking Dead back in time again. The fifth season is not jumping forward six years like The Walking Dead is, so we’ll have a chance to see some of these characters in a specific frame of time. Odds are, we’ll see the series premiere in either the spring or the summer, and we’ll have more news once it is out there.
