Gotham season 5 episode 2 preview: Ivy returns; are Gordon, Barbara allies?

Gotham

Going into Gotham season 5 episode 2, the producers are clearly intent on one thing: Bringing you as much content as possible. That’s the top priority with this particular season, which has a limited amount of episodes in order to tell a complicated story of Gotham in peril.

So what are we going to see next week? In terms of villains, it’s worth noting first and foremost that Ivy will be back! We weren’t sure how much of Peyton List we would get in the final season, but the press release guarantees that there will be at least one appearance from the character. As for what she’ll be bringing to the table, a part of it could be control. One of the things that we’re going to be seeing in this final season is that all of the different characters are going to have foothold on at least a small portion of the city.

For a few more specific details, we suggest that you check out the official Gotham season 5 episode 2 synopsis below:

Gordon and Bullock investigate a location where several kids have been kidnapped. Barbara proves to be an unlikely ally to Gordon. Meanwhile, Bruce looks into an alleged witch with healing powers for Selina, and Nygma deals with demons of his own in the all-new “Trespassers” episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, Jan. 10 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-502) (TV-14 L, V)

One of the more intriguing stories to us mentioned in here is the one featuring Barbara and Gordon, mostly because this isn’t exactly a combination we envisioned working together anytime soon. Think of all of the water that is under the bridge at this point! The drama and the history now is so deep that you can almost drown in it. We hope that there is a nostalgic quality to much of the final season, one that reminds us of the earlier iterations of this show and what it’s taken for us to get here.

By the end of this episode, we imagine that there will be some evolution for a few of these characters — that’s almost a requirement for every episode at this point. We know that this series will end with fully-formed versions of many of the villains and the goal has to be now to chart the story to where some of their position in life will make some sense.
