NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 11 promo shows a desperate Pride

NCIS: New Orleans season 3 finale reviewNCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 11 is coming your way in just under one week, and it feels clear that we’re going to see a different Dwayne Pride. This is a grieving, devastated version of this character … and also someone who may be intent to stop at nothing in order to get revenge.

For those who need a quick refresher, remember that Cassius Pride was killed at the end of the first half of the season, and that his shooting came about on the other side of a dangerous mission that Pride was forced into. His father and Wade were held hostage and still, he doesn’t know who was responsible for orchestrating the whole ordeal. He holds this person responsible for Cassius more so than Amelia; how else do you explain him pushing so hard in the promo for answers? He’s going to interrogate almost everyone he can looking for answers, but based on what one person tells him in interrogation, he may as well be “chasing a ghost.”

There’s no guarantee that Pride is going to get the answers that he seeks within this episode, and there are really a couple of different questions that he needs to wonder to himself within this episode. The first one here is who the responsible party is. The second, at the moment, is simply why. Why do something like this? Why torment Pride? Obviously, there’s some sort of personal vendetta here since there are plenty of other people that could’ve been chosen for his operation … at least in theory.

While there are many question marks still out there leading into this episode, there’s very little doubt in our mind that we’re gearing up for one of the best new episodes of the season. We’ve got a compelling cliffhanger, for starters, and we’d argue that NCIS: New Orleans in general is telling long-form stories in a way that none of the other shows in the franchise are at the moment. For Scott Bakula, this may be the best overall material that he’s had to work with as Pride is just being put through the ringer time and time again. We’ll have to see precisely where this journey ends up taking him.
