While there are some notable British series in Luther and Doctor Who airing on New Year’s Day, Death in Paradise is right around the road!
Perhaps the most-shocking thing entering the January 10 premiere episode is simply that we’re gearing up for the eighth season of the popular murder-mystery show. Where has all the time gone? It basically is the British version of Hawaii Five-0 in that it combines a traditional crime drama with escapism, which leaves you in turn with a lot of entertainment! There are some great mysterious coming up this season, and it’s all going to begin with a stabbing that turns into so much more. What we like about this series in particular is that it really does present its mysteries as puzzles and they give you a challenge to figure them out — it’s a little bit similar in that way to some old-school, classic mystery shows.
Enough buildup now — let’s get to what some of you may be pining away to see, which is the full Death in Paradise season 8 episode 1 synopsis! CarterMatt has that for you, in full, below:P
Death In Paradise returns for an eighth series to the idyllic Caribbean shores of Saint Marie for more ingenious and baffling murder mysteries!
In the opening episode of the series, DI Jack Mooney (Ardal O’Hanlon) and the team are left baffled when passenger Paul Raynor (Andrew Tiernan) is stabbed on the express bus to Honoré. Suspicion falls upon the fellow passengers, but with no drop-off points and no-one leaving their seats, how on earth did anyone commit the murder without someone else seeing?
Puzzled by a single piece of loose masking tape, Jack is determined to prove foul play. However with each of the other passengers providing an alibi for the other, and a lack of evidence, the team have a tough task on their hands.
Meanwhile, Jack is on the lookout for a new recruit to join the police team, and romance is on the cards for Florence (Joséphine Jobert) with new beau, Patrice (Leemore Marrett JR).
Basically, this episode is looking to give you a little bit of everything that you could want, whether it be some great romance, mystery, and some character stories so that it doesn’t feel like the only thing that matters is the case of the week.
Of course, there are many episodes that will coming beyond this one, so consider this in some ways just a worthy reintroduction to the world of the series. It gives you a lot to be excited about and a nice break in turn from some chilling winter weather.
