Criminal Minds season 14 video: A new look at what’s ahead

Are you excited for Criminal Minds season 14 to return to the air on CBS? We certainly are, though we also are a little bit nervous. It’s not lost on us that the upcoming batch of episodes over the next several weeks could be the end of the show, even if we hope that they aren’t.

So, while you wait for the show’s return, why not check out a preview for what’s coming up? You can see a rather-informative sneak peek below, but despite what the title says, we don’t actually think that it’s for Wednesday’s “Night Lights.” Instead, it feels like a sneak peek for the January 9 installment that will have almost a Pied Piper sort of twist. Basically, this episode is going to revolve around someone seemingly drawing out children and abducting them in the middle of the night — there are no obvious signs of break-ins, and whoever is behind these acts seems to be doing them discreetly. The content in this preview matches closely stuff that is supposed to happen on January 9. (Sometimes, CBS ends up mislabeling videos — not too major an issue.)

Expect this episode to be one of the better ones this season from a mystery perspective, and we do like that. Sure, it’s nice to get a great UnSub and some super-intense scenes, but it’s rather nice sometimes to just be able to sit back and watch some of the pieces ultimately come together.

What’s happening with JJ?

That’s something that could be of note in this episode as well, as the sneak peek tells us that JJ is going to be staying back rather than taking on something on-site for this case. What’s going on with her? We’re hoping that this is an indicator of some sort of large, personal story within this episode rather than her just being completely absent. We had one personal case for her earlier this season but clearly, that’s not enough for us to feel satisfied.

Also, can we celebrate the fact that Reid will be in this episode? We know that the character has been a little bit MIA as of late, so it’s nice to see that he will be around for the stretch run of the season. Criminal Minds is almost always better when Reid has some sort of notable role in it!
