CarterMatt Awards 2018 results: Outlander takes home Best Fanbase!
Welcome to another batch of 2018 CarterMatt Awards results! It’s fairly easy to set up this one in Best Fanbase, especially since it can be described in one simple way — it’s a celebration of the people who support the show with every fabric of their being. They watch it live, they tweet about it, and they do more or less all they can in order to ensure that the series is a success.
Basically, we like to think that fanbases themselves are worthy of an award themselves after spending so much time voting and supporting others.
For 2018, fans of Outlander have found a way once more to earn the title! This is the third straight year in which they’ve taken home this title, which puts them in very rare air for any category of the CarterMatt Awards — it’s very hard for a show to repeat, let alone get the award for three consecutive years. This is also the third award that the series has officially won in 2018, as Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were named Top Actor and Top Actress, respectively.
It’s impossible to question the devotion that Outlander fans have to this show, as they live-tweet episodes (sometimes at midnight, when they come on the air on Starz) to go along with do everything that they can to ensure that it is recognized. That includes voting for the series and fan polls, attending conventions, supporting the cast’s charitable endeavors, and so much more. They also managed to get the show a People’s Choice Awards nomination, even though there weren’t any episodes of the show that had aired in 2018 at the time of the voting window.
We definitely think that there’s every reason in the world to believe that Outlander fans will remain strong in 2019 and contend once more in the CarterMatt Awards, really regardless of when season 5 ends up premiering. We’re excited to have more seasons of the show, just as we’re also excited to see what fans do to get through the latest Droughtlander. This could be a long one, but it does always feel like there’s something big going on within the world of the series.

We do want to give a little bit of kudos to fans of both Shadowhunters and Wynonna Earp, given that they both performed very well in the poll and have a lot to be proud of as a whole. Shadowhunters fans were about to score a number of PCAs wins for the show, while Wynonna Earp fans have created a wonderful support base for each other in addition to supporting a wonderfully-entertaining TV series.
