Hawaii Five-0 season 9 episode 11 video: Steve, Catherine become high rollers

There are a number of reasons why this episode is going to stand out, with the primary one being that it’s going to be a direct continuation of what happened in the fall finale. Following the death of Joe, Steve McGarrett is going to need some help trying to get the vengeance that he so seeks. This is why he’s bringing in some of his best and brightest, including Danny, Junior, and some returning faces like Catherine Rollins, Wade Gutches, and Harry Langford. It’s a chance for everyone to come together to take on Steve’s target, while there are also still enough people back at Five-0 headquarters in order for it to properly function.
Going into this episode the obvious comparison is to The Expendables, but after watching the promo it feels like you could easily also say Ocean’s Eleven given that Steve and Catherine are going to be heading to a casino at one point. If you’re going to go undercover — or you just want information — there’s really no better place to be. People are vulnerable, they’re not thinking clearly, and you can get what you need a little bit easier.
This episode is likely going to have a number of fun moments, but along the way we also cannot forget about the fact that there is some pretty serious subject matter at the heart of it. Steve is hurting, and it makes sense that he would be. Joe was a valuable mentor to him, and someone who has been an enormous part of much of his adult life. He wouldn’t be the same man that he is without him, and he’s in the midst of a traumatic experience in which members of his one-time SEAL Team unit are being killed off. It’s important that he has people like Danny and Catherine around for their help in the field, but also for emotional support. They may be able to help and support him in some ways few other people can.
We’ll see if this particular situation is resolved by the end of this episode … but even if it is, it could always come back down the road.
