Criminal Minds season 14 episode 12 spoilers: A complicated kidnapping

Criminal Minds

Criminal Minds season 14 episode 12 is set to be the second episode airing in the new year and based on some preliminary details, this could be one of the tougher cases for the BAU. They’ve taken on many kidnapping cases over the years, but this one is a little bit different just in terms of the lack of evidence and information out there. The only thing that they are going to have to go on is a surveillance video, and that’s not going to be an altogether-easy source of information.

Below, we have the official Criminal Minds season 14 episode 12 synopsis with some more news as to what you are going to see:

“Hamelin” – Prentiss and The BAU team fly to Iowa to investigate the disappearance of three 10-year-old children who appear to have been abducted from their homes in the middle of the night, with surveillance video from a neighborhood park as their only lead to finding the children’s whereabouts, on CRIMINAL MINDS, Wednesday, Jan. 9 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Coming out of reading this synopsis, there’s not too much in the way of additional information about the UnSub — other than, of course, questions as to what Hamelin is. Is it a town in Iowa? We looked that up and there is a Hamlin, though that’s a slightly different spelling. Hamelin is also the setting of the famous tale of the Pied Piper, so it is more than likely a reference to how the UnSub for this episode is kidnapping some of these children. They may be using something to draw the children out as opposed to executing some sort of big, violent kidnapping.

Obviously, it’s a shame that there are no details about a personal side plot mixed in there, largely due to the fact that Criminal Minds has offered up a nice bit of information regarding some of the characters themselves this season. There are only going to be three episodes after this one airs, and that’s not going to offer up a lot of time to see either a personal Reid storyline since we haven’t gotten as much of him this season as we wished we would. We’re mostly finding ourselves craving some more Reid these days based on just how little we’ve been able to see of him.
