Supergirl season 4 films close to the holiday season

Supergirl season 4 episode 3

While some shows had the luxury of kicking off the holiday break a little bit earlier than others, the cast and crew of Supergirl season 4 were at work reasonably close to the start of Christmas.

Over the past several days, series star David Harewood (who plays J’onn J’onzz on the CW series) has been sharing a number of different behind-the-scenes teases on Instagram as filming on the show continued. Everyone is likely wrapped now for the holidays, but this is a show that asked a good bit of its cast and crew leading up to it. In a lot of ways, we get that since Supergirl has a lot on its plate as a whole — this is a series that has a rather-hefty 22-episode order and with the story being as complicated this season as it is, there is still a good bit of ground still to cover.

It’s fairly easy to spend a lot of time discussing stories like what’s been going on with Agent Liberty or some of the latest with Nia Nal’s transformation into Dreamer — after all, these are plots that have commanded a good bit of attention as of late. Yet, there are some others that are bubbling underneath the surface and waiting to be explored more — think along the lines of the Red Daughter storyline. This was first set up at the end of season 3, and we have seen a few little teases of her over time. Yet, there are still so many questions as to how this story is going to be important moving forward or really when it is going to head into high gear. Our sentiment on the subject is that you will probably start to get more teases when the show returns in January, and maybe it will be a part of the endgame near the end of the season. Why else would you tease the story unless you had some enormous plans down the road for it?

Of course, there are also a number of other interesting things worth looking forward to, as well, including the arrival of Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor to the show; he’s already been cast, so hopefully there are more teasers coming in the early part of the new year.
