Fuller House season 5: When will Netflix announce renewal, cancellation decision?

Fuller House

At the moment, many Fuller House fans have already binged their way through season 4 and, as a result of that, are looking towards the future. Unfortunately, the problem there is that they don’t know exactly what that future is going to be.

If you’ve been on the internet over the past few months, odds are that you’ve heard the rumors suggesting that season 4 could be the last one for the Netflix comedy. However, nothing was ever confirmed on that subject and per the cast, what really matters here when determining the future of the show is some of its performance over at Netflix. If there’s a nice viewership for the show and a strong carryover rate from one season to the next, why would they cancel it? This isn’t the same sort of situation that we’ve got with a show like Daredevil or Iron Fist, which seemed to be victims of a larger bit of drama over at Netflix. Fuller House is a show that seems to have brought the service viewership, and it’s hard to see where a comedy like it would land elsewhere.

For now, we’d tell you to not expect an immediate decision one way or another on the series’ future, mostly because there’s no real reason for Netflix to hurry things along with their decision. They can spend the next few weeks looking at the viewership numbers before they lock down precisely what they want to do.

Our feeling at the moment, based on past Netflix patterns, is that we’re likely going to know about the future of the series right around the time we get to late January / early February. We don’t think that there’s any reason for the streaming service to wait any longer than that. To go along with that, we feel like it’d be particularly helpful to give the writers a little bit of time in order to start plotting out what they want to do with a season.

At the moment, we do feel like the show could go either way — Netflix has canceled more shows as of late than they have in the past, but we do still feel like Fuller House fills a void at the network and there aren’t very many shows out there quite like it. If it does end at some point down the road, we’d like it to happen with something that is actually billed and planned-out in advance as the actual final season.
