The Voice UK season 8 premiere date, coaches, and more

Into the Ark

Do you want to know The Voice UK season 8 premiere date over on ITV? We’ve got some of that info for you within!

Luckily, the good news is that you’re not going to be forced into waiting for all that long to see the series back on the air! The singing-competition is back on Saturday, January 5 at 8:00 p.m. local time, and you will have a chance to see what is very much the same show you’ve come to enjoy over the years.

In terms of the coaches, there really isn’t all that much different about this upcoming edition of the show — will.i.am, Olly Murs, Jennifer Hudson, and Sir Tom Jones are all coming back for more! It’s an interesting double-duty for Hudson, given that she coaches on the American version of The Voice in the fall and then also takes part in the British version in the winter. This is why she doesn’t end up taking part in the American version in the spring. Will and Sir Tom have been a part of the series for the majority of its run, and are probably the closest thing that this show has to an Adam Levine / Blake Shelton duo.

One thing that is slightly-different about this new season format-wise is that trios are allowed for the first time to audition in addition to duos and solo acts … though it’s rather-hard to really gauge what sort of large-scale impact this will have on the overall show. Trios are not typically the sort of act who would do really well on a show like The Voice UK, given that so much of the show’s appeal comes from getting to know individual acts.

More so than anything, what The Voice UK needs is to figure out a way in which an artist can really break out from the show and become a huge star after the fact. While being on this series does offer up exposure — and also entertainment to viewers at home — it hasn’t come close to being the star-maker that we tend to see over at The X Factor over the past few years. We know that success after the fact isn’t 100% the point of a show like this, but we do still think that it matters from a credibility standpoint. If you are doing a show like this, more than likely you’ve got the goal of being an enormous star at some point down the line. You want to incentivize people to choose this show as a venue over any other that is out there.
